Take immediate action; call, write, email your congressperson in defense of artists Peter Berdovsky and Sean Stevens:

Dear ___________________,

I am writing to urge you to defend the constitutional rights of Peter Berdovsky and Sean Stevens, two artists in the employ of the Cartoon Network.

These two young men have simply put LED-rendered pictures of a cartoon character in places that would get people’s attention and spark their curiosity. To consider these objects harmful [ie. a bomb] took considerable imagination. 

Their actions were no different than the hundreds-of-thousands of posters, stickers, fliers and advertisments that are found in every urban center in this country.

Why was this situation different? Why did this lead to local hysteria? One need look no further than the local police force, MBTA, and the mayor of the city of Boston, all of whom bungled the situation from the beginning. Lack of communication and irresponsibly poor organization led to the fiasco which needlessly frightened the people of Boston.

Please do not let the blunders of local authorities [and the grab for ratings from the media] encroach upon the freedoms we hold dear:

The First Amendment states:

"Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the government for a redress of grievances."
